MedShip's $2.3 Million Headquarters to Boost Preble County, OH, Development and Grow Local Economy

MedShip, a leader in direct-shipping medical supplies to patients by partnering with physicians, opened its doors to its new $2.3 million headquarters in Preble County, Ohio. The Camden-based company demolished two blighted properties to make way for its new 12,000-square-foot downtown facility. This project marks the most significant investment in the village's downtown in decades, showcasing the area's affordable real estate, dedicated workforce, and commitment to retaining high-quality businesses.
“This journey has been a testament to growth and opportunity. Due to growth, we expanded our facility to accommodate not just our original vision, but the workforce that has grown beyond our expectations,” said MedShip COO Ryan Jarrell. “With 86 of our 93 employees based here, we look forward to seeing our company and Camden thrive together.”
"MedShip's new headquarters represents a unique opportunity to spark continued investment in Camden's downtown business district," said Julie Sullivan, Dayton Development Coalition Executive Vice President of Regional Development. "This rural community's vision for a renewed downtown and its commitment to making it a reality perfectly fits the goals of JobsOhio's Vibrant Community program. We look forward to working with MedShip, Camden, and Preble County to bring their vision to life."
Founded in 2021, MedShip specializes in wound care management by directly shipping surgical dressings to patients. With offices in Camden, Tampa, Florida, and El Dorado Hills, California, the new headquarters will feature a 12,000-square-foot office and new off-street parking.
"We could place this business anywhere, but we want to do this in the town we know and love," said Rob Jarrell, MedShip CEO. "This venture will catalyze future investments and help revitalize the Camden community. In fact, we are already on track to add significantly more jobs than originally anticipated, which requires an adjustment to our building plans and additional capital investment."
JobsOhio Grant and Community Support Propel Camden Toward Future Growth
The JobsOhio Vibrant Community program supported this revitalization project with a $750,000 grant. This program assists small and medium-sized communities with catalytic development projects that fulfill market needs and represent significant reinvestment in Ohio communities. Eligible projects include mixed-use developments, real estate projects, and shared spaces that meet JobsOhio criteria.
Supporters hope this project will serve as an anchor to spur additional investments in downtown Camden, including new offices, retail spaces, and public areas. Upcoming projects include:
- A $1.4 million mixed-use facility with community gathering spaces
- A $2.5 million renovation of Camden Town Hall
"The Village of Camden has taken the right steps to prepare for future growth," said Justin Sommer, Preble County Development Partnership Director for Economic Development. "This investment by MedShip, LLC, and JobsOhio proves that rural Ohio communities can provide the location advantages and skilled workforce necessary for innovative businesses."
Economic Impact and Ripple Effects
MedShip's new headquarters will significantly boost the local economy, fostering growth and prosperity in Camden and the surrounding region. Increased development has ripple effects that can positively impact a community in several ways:
- Job Creation and Retention: The new headquarters will create direct employment opportunities and stimulate job growth in supporting construction, retail, and services industries.
- Economic Diversification: By attracting businesses like MedShip, Camden can diversify its economic base, making the community more resilient to economic downturns.
- Enhanced Quality of Life: Revitalized downtown areas with new businesses, retail spaces, and public amenities can improve the quality of life for residents and make Camden a more attractive place to live and work.
