Progressive Processing's New Eaton Facility Signals Preble County's Manufacturing Momentum

A once-vacant facility in Eaton, Ohio, is now a $35 million investment and the future home of 50 new jobs. Progressive Processing's 190,000-square-foot operation brings new life to a site that sat idle for a decade. Backed by the JobsOhio Revitalization Program, the project transforms an underused asset into a key part of Preble County's industrial growth.
From Idle Asset to Industrial Growth Engine
The building once carried the weight of lost potential. Progressive Processing saw opportunity where others saw risk.
The JobsOhio Revitalization Grant closed the funding gap, making critical renovations possible. That funding supported building upgrades, site prep, and infrastructure improvements to bring the site up to modern industrial standards. The result is a high-performing processing center focused on producing high-performance steel coils, positioned for long-term growth and regional impact.
Location, Logistics, and a Workforce Strategy Built For Speed
Eaton's location, just 40 minutes from Dayton and within 90 minutes of Cincinnati, Columbus, and Indianapolis, was a decisive factor. It offers Progressive Processing immediate access to a tri-state industrial corridor and direct proximity to customers and suppliers.
That logistical advantage, combined with a strategic workforce approach, helped the company accelerate its ramp-up.
Rather than only recruiting for technical experience, Progressive Processing focused on identifying underemployed local talent with the right cultural fit and then investing in skills development. This approach has produced early operational success and strong community engagement.
A Positive Signal to Other Manufacturers and a Win For Preble County
"Progressive Processing's Eaton facility allows the company to capitalize on the proximity to suppliers and customers while increasing their production capacity," said Justin Sommer, Director of Economic Development for the Preble County Development Partnership. "Their commitment to Preble County, both through job creation and community investment, contributes significantly to our growing economic vibrancy."
For the City of Eaton, the new facility affirms its competitiveness for advanced manufacturing and logistics. "This facility represents a significant investment in our community's future and highlights Eaton's strategic advantages as a location for advanced manufacturing and logistics. We look forward to a strong partnership and the positive impact that Progressive Processing will bring to our local economy," said City Manager Brad Collins.
Built For Roll Formers, Backed by Local Collaboration
Progressive Processing provides precision slitting, recoiling, and break-to-weight processing of steel coils. Their customers, roll-formers producing metal roofing, custom trim, and wall systems, depend on accuracy and reliability. This new location strengthens the company's ability to deliver both.
Their decision to locate in Eaton is the result of strong coordination between Progressive Processing, the City of Eaton, Preble County Development Partnership, and JobsOhio. It's a clear example of how targeted investment, infrastructure reuse, and workforce innovation can turn underutilized space into economic strength.
